Allonnia Expands Footprint in Seaport District

New office, lab space will advance milestones, increase staff by 50 percent

Allonnia, a startup biotechnology company dedicated to solving the world’s toughest waste challenges, today celebrated the expansion of its footprint in the Seaport District with a celebratory ribbon cutting and grand opening. The event took place at the company’s new offices and lab space located at 6 Tide Street.

The new location increases the company’s footprint four-fold, and is expected to increase its “nature’s detectives,” which are part of the technical team, by more than 50 percent at the end of the year.

“We’ve experienced tremendous success since Allonnia was founded just over two years ago,” said Nicole Richards, CEO, Allonnia. “And with our success comes the opportunity to grow, not just our team but our physical space where our nature’s detectives sift through billions of clues to find a solution within nature. We are excited to be among the companies located within the thriving Seaport District as we create an ecosystem of people working to make the world a better place.”

The new office, which is being leased by PureTech Health, is LEED-Certified Silver providing conference rooms, collaborative spaces for colleagues to engage in ideas and brainstorming, private offices and a dedicated employee space with kitchen and large eating area. Notably missing from the space will be document printers, and single-use plastic beverages and dinnerware, all aligned with Allonnia’s commitment to minimizing waste while also maintaining a sustainable environment.

Allonnia is backed by Ginkgo Bioworks, and the new location places Allonnia just steps away from Ginkgo Bioworks’ location at the historic Innovation Design Building in Boston.

In 2023, Allonnia was certified as a “Great Place to Work,” which recognizes employers who create outstanding employee experiences.
