Harnessing the power of nature to treat the toughest contaminants

PFAS, 1,4-dioxane and other emerging contaminants have revolutionized products but pose serious risks, earning the name ‘forever chemicals’ due to their persistence and toxicity. These pollutants are notoriously difficult to remediate because of their challenging physical and chemical properties.

At Allonnia, we develop and deploy innovative technologies to treat emerging contaminants in groundwater, landfill leachate, municipal water, and industrial process water, ensuring safer water for communities and the environment.

Today’s industry challenges

45%

of U.S. drinking water

contains the harmful contaminant PFAS, a suspected carcinogen

>20%

of U.S. drinking water

contains the emerging contaminant, 1,4‑dioxane

95%

of surveyed landfills

contain PFAS, from discarded household goods, industrial waste and more

Our solutions

Allonnia develops and deploys solutions that effectively and efficiently remove ‘forever chemicals’ and other emerging contaminants from all water types.

PFAS SOLUTIONS

We are the exclusive North American distributor for SAFF® (Surface Active Foam Fractionation), a proven technology that permanently removes PFAS from contaminated waters. Our suite of boosters is also available to enhance SAFF’s capabilities in removing short chain PFAS.

1,4-Dioxane solutions

We developed 1,4 D-Stroy™ to eliminate 1,4-dioxane in situ from groundwater. Using naturally occurring bacteria, the solution metabolizes the contaminant into just water and carbon dioxide, rendering it completely harmless.

Our capabilities for SAFF®

PFAS remediation doesn’t have to be complex. We offer a range of capabilities – from lab scale testing to full-scale deployment – to provide data-driven solutions for each site’s unique challenges. Whether you start with lab testing, a pilot, or move straight to full deployment, our flexible approach ensures reliable results. To see our capabilities in action, watch our recent webinar for a detailed walkthrough, including a case study.

Laboratory Scale

If you’re not ready to jump into a pilot or long-term purchase, we recommend starting with a SAFF bench scale test in Allonnia’s Boston lab which mimics performance of a full-scale SAFF unit and Boosters, helping inform our full-scale deployments. We can quickly analyze PFAS in your water using our in-lab LCMS equipment for quick turnaround times as well as analysis with a certified lab. We’ve conducted more than 60 bench tests across more than 30 unique water types, including groundwater, leachate and surface water. The bench test requires shipping us 40 gallons of contaminated water from your site. From the time we receive your water sample to receiving the full report takes less than 6 weeks.

Pilot Deployment

Sites ready for long-term remediation can move immediately to full-scale deployment, but for those who choose a pilot, we’ll deploy a full-scale SAFF unit and optimize performance for your site’s specific conditions. We assess critical factors like foam management, waste concentration and equipment configuration, and fine-tune settings for long-term deployment. A pilot also allows for testing multiple Allonnia Boosters in SAFF’s dosing system to enhance short-chain removal, as needed. The insights gathered ensure a seamless transition to long-term operation.

Long-Term Deployment

Whether transitioning from a pilot or moving directly to full-scale deployment, our flexible approach ensures a smooth and efficient start. Commissioning begins with a 1-2 day start-up supported by up to two Allonnia personnel, followed by a 1-2 week optimization period. Once optimized, SAFF operates autonomously with remote monitoring. With a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty, we ensure reliable and efficient operation from day one. Longer-term warranties and services are also available to provide peace-of-mind throughout the deployment.

Ongoing Support Services

Our partnership doesn’t end with installation. Our dedicated North America-based team offers ongoing support, extended warranty options and additional training for your local staff. With real-time data integration and an online dashboard, we enable continuous system monitoring and optimization for peak performance. Through ongoing reporting, innovation sharing and periodic SAFF unit updates, we ensure you remain at the forefront of PFAS treatment.
